Petrospec Electric Heating Production Enhancement Reservoir (PEHPER) Simulator
PEHPER is simulation software created by Petrospec Engineering, which models electric heating applications in horizontal wells. PEHPER allows for a variety of sensitivities to evaluate the technical and economic benefits of electric wellbore heating.
Analysis
- Cold Flow:
- Model Cold Flow: Determine basic wellbore and reservoir parameters of horizontal wells
- Calculate Pressure Profile: Drawdown distribution in horizontal section / determine Productivity Index (PI) profile of the well
- Effect of Electric Heating in Wellbore:
- Reduce oil viscosity
- Reduce cumulative friction losses in the tubulars
- Increased drawdown across the horizontal section but especially at the toe
- Increased toe contribution
- Near Wellbore heating:
- Establishes the heat penetration radius depending on the thermal conductivity of the formation, well flow parameters and;
- Reduce viscosity in the heat affected area in the formation
